Computer Lab at MSU Library Receives a Makeover

The library at Michigan State University College of Law officially opened its newly remodeled computer lab and is now available for all law students.
Featuring six wide-screen desktops, a sheet-fed scanner, three printers, and ample comfortable modern seating with built-in outlets and USB ports, the newly installed equipment is just in time for students to use for the academic year.
Jane Meland, Director of MSU Law Library “I am delighted by how nice it turned out,” said Jane Meland, Director of MSU Law Library. “When looking at the layout on a sheet of paper, it is hard to imagine. But it came together beautifully. It is a wonderful new resource for our students.”
The goal of the remodel was to increase student productivity by providing a quiet study area with state-of-the-art equipment and comfortable furniture, which aligns with results of a recent student survey.
“This lab represents a space where students can focus on their work and knowledge as law students,” said Meland. “It also reparents the investment the law school is willing to put into students here and create a space for everyone to come and work.”
The computer lab is located on the second floor of the law school, room 201. Meland encourages students to check out the new space that has been created for the law community.
The library secured funding for the project last year and receive design expertise from MSU Interior Design Instructor, Deena Whitbeck, who is certified through the National Council for Interior Design Qualification.
